Edit a Bitwarden export, then seal it again.
Open a password-protected export, change what you need, and download a new file with a new password. It imports into Bitwarden or Vaultwarden like any export.
- Type
- Password-protected export. This one can be opened here.
- Key settings
- Contents
- Hidden until unlocked
This export is tied to one account.
It was exported as account restricted, so it has no file password. It only opens by importing it into the Bitwarden or Vaultwarden account it came from. This page can’t open it, and won’t try.
To edit it here, export again with a password
- In the Vaultwarden web vault, open Tools, then Export vault.
- File format: .json (Encrypted).
- Export type: Password protected, then choose a file password.
- Bring that file back here.
Seal it with a new password.
Download without encryption (JSON or CSV)
An unencrypted file holds every password in plain text. Anyone who gets it, or any app that reads your Downloads folder, can read them all. Delete it as soon as you are done with it.
